Responsibilities

In this role, your team engages in supplier benchmarking analysis to formulate, lead, and implement strategies to optimize cost, supply, and quality. Additional responsibilities include bargaining terms, conditions and pricing to leverage spend, leading and engaging in department projects, serving as a primary contact for industry and supplier information, and acting as a mentor for other members within the Procurement organization. Detailed responsibilities and tasks are as follows:

  • Develop and implement commodity strategies through global alignment with Micron business units, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and site purchasing teams.
  • Build, develop, and lead a global key materials team.
  • Lead all aspects of a global supplier relationship including contract terms, pricing, capacity assurance, risk management, continuous supply, supplier programs (consignment, VMI, local warehousing), materials forecasting, and downstream raw materials supply.
  • Establish goals, improvement plans, business reviews, and regular reporting.
  • Support the organization to ensure global alignment, meet results, and timelines.
  • Conduct effective supplier negotiations and cost reductions.
  • Build senior level supplier relationships.
  • Drive supplier rationalization strategy to improve category leverage.
  • Work with supply base to establish robust quality operating systems to support a “zero defect” culture, including administration and follow-up of Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCARs) to suppliers and participating in supplier site audits.
  • Handle supplier performance evaluation (SCORECARD).
  • Handle site-related procurement sourcing & support activities on SIG Product Category in Boise and Penang.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement.
  • Strong procurement and Micron business insight.
  • Proven experience of leading critical initiatives and running sophisticated projects.
