To perform the tasks required in conducting review, research and analysis on cross border digital trade / e-commerce matters including those being discussed and explored at global and regional level and under free trade agreements and other international collaborations; as well as in developing and managing programmes to establish MDEC’s thought leadership in cross border digital trade / e-commerce including project planning and execution, engagement with relevant Ministries, Agencies, industry players and international organisations with the key objective to enhance opportunities in cross border digital trade (including e-commerce) through greater awareness of enabling and facilitative framework that promotes interoperability for digital trade ecosystem as well as provision of subject matter expertise in digital trade (including e-commerce) to the relevant Ministries and Agencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
To perform the tasks required in research and analysis, and in managing programmes and activities in the following areas:
1. Review, research and analysis
Conducting review, research and analysis relating to cross border digital trade / e-commerce matters including those being discussed and explored at global and regional level and under free trade agreements and other international collaborations.
Organising, analysing and synthesising information gathered for identification of trends, best practices and benchmarking.
Developing detailed report with findings and recommendations.
Preparing and developing findings into presentations to MDEC internal and external stakeholders.
2. Thought leadership and regional presence
Identifying and prioritising opportunities for MDEC to establish thought leadership position in digital trade / e-commerce at regional and global forums.
Planning, organising and managing regional symposium, workshops, seminars, conference relating to digital trade / e-commerce.
Coordinating, monitoring and reporting on project execution in a timely manner, including timely reporting and escalation of issues.
Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
Conducting research and analyse data to facilitate discussions and reporting.
3. Stakeholders outreach, engagement and collaboration
Engaging and obtaining buy in from stakeholders from both public and private sectors.
Planning, organising and conducting syndication, awareness session and focus group discussions with relevant stakeholders.
Conducting research and analyse data to facilitate discussions and reporting.
Establishing and maintaining strong relationship with relevant stakeholders.
4. Domain expertise and trade negotiations
Reviewing and analysing relevant free trade agreements and cross border collaborations relevant and relating to digital trade / e-commerce.
Benchmarking and making comparisons.
Reviewing and analysing Malaysia’s position including relevant laws and regulations.
Formulating proposed position for Malaysia.
Drafting input and preparing reports.
5. Other
Performing other tasks as may be assigned by Senior Manager, Cross Border Rules, Digital Trade Ecosystem.
Qualifications
Degree in law, economics, international relations, journalism, English language, statistics, ICT or other relevant fields.
Between 1 to 3 years’ experience in a direct or related field.
Knowledge and exposure relating to digital trade / e-commerce and working experience in public policy analysis, economic analysis, legal or international trade, industry development, stakeholder engagements, consulting, would be considered an advantage.
