The Opportunity

My client is in the FMCG Industry with Manufacturing facilities in Malaysia. They are currently looking to hire Head of Manufacturing.

My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Group Level Manufacturing Leader. In this role, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic development, technical leadership, safety and facility management, R&D collaboration, and energy and sustainability leadership across the group manufacturing facilities. You will play a crucial role in maintaining brand quality standards, developing new production facilities, and enhancing the group brand reputation through manufacturing excellence.

The Talent

  • Proven knowledge of healthcare / foods / cosmetics manufacturing processes, production systems, and quality management
  • Experience with production automation, digitalization, and innovative solutions implementation
  • Strong understanding of tooling standards and process improvements
  • Multicultural operations management experience with proven team leadership skills
  • Proven experience in business development and customer relationship management
  • Experience in sustainability initiatives and ESG principles implementation

The Job

Operational Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Oversee the installation of new equipment, production line upgrades, and new product development projects at the production plant to comprehensively enhance its production standards and competitiveness.
  • Improve work processes and optimize techniques across various departments to increase efficiency.
  • Provide data analysis and decision-making recommendations to management, including insights on the production plant to enhance capabilities over the production plant.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless operation and meet production targets.

Multi-Site Operations Management:

  • Directly manage factory managers in XX and XX, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to global standards.
  • Ensure seamless coordination and execution of operational plans.

Quality Management:

  • Implement and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address quality issues promptly.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality consciousness among plant employees.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards, creating a safe and healthy work environment for employees.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and minimize accidents.
  • Oversee regular safety inspections and incident investigations to prevent future occurrences.

Cost Management:

  • Analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings through process optimization, waste reduction, and supply chain management.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost efficiency and productivity.

People Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of plant managers, supervisors, and operators.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture that encourages innovation and continuous learning.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement development plans for plant personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with factory managers and regional teams, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Navigate cultural differences to create a cohesive and high-performing global team.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive lean manufacturing initiatives to eliminate waste, streamline processes, and improve overall plant efficiency.
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies to reduce variability and improve product quality.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies, incorporating innovative practices into plant operations as appropriate.
