Job description

Open in Malaysia since 2013, our client is an American fast food restaurant chain currently with 90+ outlets in Malaysia.

Director of HR (Head)

Reporting to General Manager & COO.

Oversee 90 restaurants in Malaysia with approximately 1500+ workforce including Head Office. Lead a team of 8 HR personnel.

Talent Management & Retention

  1. Sourcing, selection and hiring of the right talent to support the Company expansion.
  2. Working on Talent Management and Succession Planning to establish a talent pool to support business expansion.
  3. Oversee the recruitment plan for new restaurant and existing restaurant.
  4. Partnering with Operations Managers to build a sustainable workforce and drive operational excellence in terms of labor cost and quality hiring.
  5. Engage and collaborate with universities and colleges for future talent pipeline.
  6. Negotiate better rates with recruitment agencies/ executive search firms.
  7. Successfully revamped the employee survey system to improve the survey accuracy.
  8. Review the benefits/ salaries to ensure competitiveness in the market as an employer.
  9. Work on yearly performance appraisal, increment and bonus payout.
  10. Work on incentive plans for restaurant operations.
  11. Provide insights on employee welfare to Group HR.
  12. Build a good working culture and better team spirit through celebrating success and festive celebrations.
  13. Oversee that employee welfare activities are carried out diligently.

Performance Management

  1. Act as an advisor/ coach to line managers in managing Performance Improvement Plans.
  2. Act as an advisor/ coach to line managers for goal setting and communicate with employees for annual review/ KPI setting.
  3. Responsible for the annual increment/ bonus payout exercise.
  4. Oversee or handle Domestic Inquiry for severe disciplinary cases.
  5. Act as an advisor to line managers and business partners for handling staff issues and industrial relation matters.
  6. Engage employees via formal & informal channels and follow up with action plans.
  7. Review and analyze insights to improve employee morale and retention purposes.

Payroll

  1. Review, monitor and analyze monthly labor costs to provide key insights for payroll management.
