Data Communication System (DCS) Engineer (Ref.No. R1006477)

at our location in Kuala-Lumpur

The Data Communication System (DCS) supports the communications between the different Automatic Train Control Supervision components located at Central Control, Wayside and On-Board Trains. The communication between different subsystems can be through wired media (copper or fibre optics e.g. between stations and control centre) or wireless (between trains and wayside).

DCS Engineers are responsible for implementing, monitoring and managing the communications between the different Automatic Train Control Supervision components located at Central Control, Wayside and On-Board Trains. The role can include support in designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.

You will enjoy having these responsibilities:

1. Analyze, troubleshoot and undertake independent investigations on potential problems. Propose solutions / recommendations and produce reports.
2. Provide expert technical support skills, to improve operational performance and productivity.
3. Assist in developing and implementation of cross departmental self-help initiatives to enhance technical skill levels and improve efficiency.
4. Identify innovative techniques and exploit new systems and technology to improve working practices.
5. Implement action plans to address recommendations derived from analytical data.
6. Provide technical advice on new bids and re-negotiation of existing contracts.
7. Responsible for handling all technical problems in running projects and devices under maintenance, achieving customer acceptance / satisfaction through high performance and quality of services.
8. Responsible for supporting PM and have a good technical interaction with customer, good Customer Relationship with peers in Customer department.
9. Responsible for establishing a maintenance routine and able to timely handle customer technical problems, product related changes, product issues and correction releases.
10. Products/Technical Knowledge update through self-learning techniques, to meet upcoming service requirements.

You have:

1. Proven experience in Signaling System on-site testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and surveys.
2. Systems Test and Commissioning experience in Windows, UNIX-based applications and systems software.
3. Ability to identify potential problems and propose solutions.
4. The candidate must have developed through his professional experiences the capability of managing Customer and Suppliers relationships.
5. Very adaptable and able to prioritize in critical and pressure situations.
6. The capability of coordinating and managing heterogeneous resources in an international context is required.
7. Relevant experience of managing test & commissioning activities.
8. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
9. Able to work in autonomy, but strong self-aware of limits.
10. Good team working approach.
11. Good communication skills and proactivity in coordinating the activities of all parties involved.
12. Engineering degree with preferred 5 years experience in relevant fields such as:

• Computer science
• Computer software/computer systems engineering
• Computer systems and networks
• Electrical/electronic engineering

Preferred skills:

1. Network security management
2. Experience on the deployment of Signaling System for large infrastructure/Metro/Railway projects will be an added advantage.
3. Knowledge of GTS/URS Signaling equipment / systems is preferred.
4. Knowledge of GTS/URS Processes is a plus.
