Data Analyst, Translations (Korean Speaker)

Translator: Korean (S&P Global Market Intelligence)

The Location: Penang

The Team: The Translations department is part of the Documents Insights and Services domain within the Market Intelligence division at S&P Global. The team is responsible for delivering accurate and timely translated content to internal financial and non-financial data collection teams within the division. It also supports translation requirements for other divisions including Corporate, Technology, Legal and News groups within the company.

The Impact: As a translator/linguist, you are responsible for producing quality translation in the target language. This entails conducting relevant and market-specific research, data collection, and analysis of the financial industry and other related activities in the covered region using established and dynamic key processes. Additionally, you will maintain the most up-to-date market knowledge documents in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. You will also have a chance to participate in projects ensuring the company’s data integrity. The content you will be working on will be used by our clients and support the company’s strategy in making S&P products available in target regions and industries.

Responsibilities:

1. Convert (translate/localize) high-level documents in the source language to the target language (Korean to English and vice-versa) by relaying the style and tone of the original language.
2. Collect relevant financial information through primary and secondary research.
3. Ensure that queries from both internal and external clients are addressed accurately, comprehensively, and timely.
4. Provide quality assurance of translated and localized materials.
5. Create and maintain language glossaries, dictionaries, and translation memories utilized for translation, and draft language-specific style guides based on project requirements.
6. Deliver on predefined individual and team targets including delivering outcomes with quality and excellence.
7. Stay abreast of updated translation and research guidelines and policies.
8. Report accurate daily work performed in the appropriate reporting tools; including fixing errors as per quality feedback within specified time and reporting back after completion.
9. Participate in developing and executing projects as assigned from time to time as per company requirements.
10. Participate in testing new tools and applications that would enhance individual and team productivity and efficiency.
11. Ideate and execute Process Improvement and Automation projects.
12. Escalate concerns on time and with the correct line of communication and appropriate response to mails from co-workers & management Team.
13. Collaborate with other data sets and stakeholders in support of the team’s expansion and transformation goals.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

1. Proficiency or native competency in specified language (Korean) and English. Other languages are a plus.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and specified language (Korean).
3. Knowledge of Accounting and Financial subject matter, concepts, and terms.
4. Good analytical skills to conduct thorough objective research, with good attention to detail.
5. Well-versed with information research on the internet and desktop applications such as Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
6. Ability to interact with different levels of stakeholders and deal with issues in a mature and professional manner.
7. Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
8. Strong time management skills – able to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
9. Inquisitive and investigative nature, proactive, highly motivated, and positive attitude.
10. Comfortable with learning new technologies, processes, and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Language proficiency certification is desirable.
2. Proven experience of active participation in translation and localization projects particularly related to the financial industry/markets.
3. Experience with Lean principles, automation, and machine translation.
4. Knowledge in SQL, Python, and VBA Macro is a plus.
