Customs Compliance: Ensure all import/export activities comply with local, federal, and international customs regulations and trade laws.
Documentation Management: Prepare and review necessary documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, certificates of origin, bill of lading) for customs clearance and ensure all records are accurate and complete.
Customs Clearance Coordination: Work with customs authorities and brokers to facilitate the clearance of shipments, ensuring timely and efficient processing of goods through customs.
Regulatory Updates & Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated on changes to international trade laws, tariffs, and regulations. Monitor and ensure that all shipments are compliant with the latest customs regulations.
Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination: Work closely with the logistics, procurement, and inventory management teams to ensure seamless operations in the movement of goods and resolve any issues that may arise.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to import/export activities, including potential delays, fines, or customs inspections.
Communication & Collaboration: Serve as the main point of contact between internal teams, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate smooth shipping operations. Mandarin proficiency is required to effectively communicate with suppliers and authorities in Mandarin-speaking regions.
Problem Resolution: Handle issues that arise during customs processing, such as discrepancies in shipping documentation, classification issues, or delays in clearance, and resolve them promptly.
Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular updates and reports on customs-related activities, identifying trends, potential risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in customs clearance, logistics, or a related field, with a solid understanding of customs regulations, tariff codes, and international shipping.
Certifications (Optional but Preferred): Certification in customs brokerage, import/export compliance, or similar (e.g., CCS - Certified Customs Specialist, or other relevant certifications).
SKILLS:
In-depth knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and supply chain logistics.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues effectively.
Proficient in logistics software, Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite.
Multilingual skills are a plus, particularly in Mandarin, to facilitate communication in Mandarin-speaking issues.
