Counsellor/ Clinical Psychologist (70034)

Sunway Education Group welcomes interested candidates to submit their resume for the above stated vacancy with the following job specifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide screening, counselling, and mental health support to students.
  • Support the Student Welfare Unit and the practice of the Student Mental Health Policy and Students with Disabilities Policy.
  • Serve as a crisis responder on the crisis management team, providing timely support and response during critical incidents, and coordinating with relevant team members to ensure swift action.
  • Provide crisis intervention and respond to mental health emergencies involving students, in collaboration with the assigned welfare officer. This includes conducting mental health assessments to determine appropriate interventions or resources needed to address crises, completing safety plans, and implementing the appropriate interventions or referrals.
  • Plan, organise, and lead structured programmes and initiatives to educate staff and students about disabilities, including understanding conditions like autism spectrum (ASD) and attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as effective classroom management strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain all required records and reports. Document therapy in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and networking with other mental health agencies. Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
  • Conduct theme-based training and consultation for staff and students on topics such as trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
  • Support the disability services and liaise with stakeholders to ensure adequate support is arranged for students.
  • Support in drafting and implementing the safeguarding policy.

Requirements:

  • Masters in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or other relevant areas of studies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar area of responsibilities.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English, with a focus on accuracy and clarity in providing feedback and advice. Proficiency in other languages is an added advantage.
  • A team player.
  • Good organisational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, groups, and data.
  • Possess good problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse situations and develop appropriate action plans.
