Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of staff and students’ mental and emotional health to identify their needs and establish individualized goals.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement effective treatment plans that may include individual or group counselling, crisis intervention, and referrals to appropriate resources.
Support and Guidance: Provide ongoing support and guidance on various issues, including coping strategies, stress management, communication skills, conflict resolution, and work-life balance.
Progress Evaluation: Regularly evaluate and monitor the progress of employees and students, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
Ethical Practice: Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in accordance with the professional code of conduct relevant to the practice.
Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues from hospitals, nursing colleges, occupational health services, and external agencies to deliver holistic care and support.
Record Keeping: Ensure all notes, records, and reports from counseling sessions are documented accurately and kept confidential at all times.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development by staying informed about the latest research and best practices in counseling.
Reporting: Provide bi-weekly reports to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and monthly updates to the Director of Human Resources regarding program effectiveness and individual cases.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with Clinical Training, or a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology/Clinical Psychology.
Registered Counsellor with the Malaysian Counselling Board.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in counseling or mental health support.
Strong counseling skills and personal qualities that foster understanding and connection with staff and students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals.
Proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving to assess clients’ needs and develop effective treatment plans.
Commitment to ethical practice, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards.
Self-aware and capable of managing personal biases, emotions, and stress effectively.
Consistent ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
Vigilant about the safety and security of work notes and documentation.
