We are a leading manufacturer of a comprehensive range of piping systems, with a strong presence in Malaysia. Recognized as a sustainable player in our area of expertise, we have dynamically expanded into several plants with over 700 employees. We are looking to welcome on board a Cost Accountant/Assistant Manager to take on the costing, supply finance and transformation role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with operations management by providing financial insights for management of inventories, manufacturing cost issues and opportunities.
  • Costing System Development: Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers. Work closely with the procurement and production teams to maintain periodic cost revision exercises and ensure accuracy in the Bill of Materials (BOMs). Coordinate with ERP consultants for costing and other system alignments.
  • Cost Accounting and Margin Analysis: Periodic review of production variance and profitability to ensure effective cost control. Collaborate with the supply chain unit on inventory count programs and investigations of physical inventory variance.
  • Month-End Closing Activities: Prepare cost-to-income statements, analyze inventory valuation, variances, and accruals.
  • Fixed and Variable Costs: Review and analyze fixed and variable cost reports, provide commentary on cost behavior patterns, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Business Process Improvement: Leverage ERP capabilities to identify areas for process improvement associated with manufacturing activities. Implement practices to optimize workflows and make necessary enhancements aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Internal Controls, Compliance and Treasury: Maintain internal control documentation, assist in government, annual audit, and tax reporting. Provide support to the Treasury as relates to forecasting activities.
  • Ad hoc Assignments: Undertake assignments, special projects and related duties as and when required.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must be able to perform the essential duties independently and collaborate effectively with operation management to achieve the company’s goals. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or CIMB/ACCA equivalent.
  • At least 7 years relevant working experience with a minimum of 3 years in manufacturing costing and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
