Job description

Overall Job Responsibility

The Corporate Planning Division is responsible for SG Enable’s corporate planning, helping the organisation grow in the complex social space and delivering greater value to SG Enable’s and sector stakeholders and beneficiaries. To this end, the Division ensures alignment of all key corporate functions to SG Enable’s strategy and goals. This includes guiding and overseeing corporate performance and reporting to SG Enable’s Board of Directors, as well as to internal and external stakeholders.

The incumbent will support the Division in shaping the organisation’s strategy and developing plans to materialise the strategy by working with both internal and external stakeholders, the latter including relevant Ministries, namely the Ministry of Family and Social Development, and agencies, both government and social services agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support Deputy Director, Corporate Planning to plan and/or execute the following work:

Annual Work Plan

  1. Oversee the annual work planning exercise which includes:
  • Developing templates, forms, tools etc. to guide units in the planning process
  • Organising and/or delivering training/briefings/workshops etc. to staff
  • Providing consultation to Divisions to guide them on developing work plans
  • Coordinating the timely submission of annual work plans by Divisions
  • Compiling the work plans for the Board’s clearance
  • Communicating the plans to internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate

2. Oversee performance reporting to key funders, and SG Enable’s Board and Management. This includes:

  • Working with Divisions to identify performance indicators and collect performance data
  • Coordinating the timely submission of quarterly performance data by Divisions, compiling the submissions and circulating to the SG Enable’s Board and Management
  • Studying the organisation’s performance data to determine if goals and targets are met
  • Working with Divisions to develop remedial/ corrective actions

Board Secretariat

  1. Render secretariat support at Board of Director Meetings, including:
  • Convening Board of Director Meetings three (3) times annually
  • Co-ordinating papers to be tabled at Board of Director Meetings and those to be circulated. For circulation papers, to co-ordinate comments and solicit responses, as needed
  • Taking minutes at Board of Director Meetings and circulating approved minutes
  • Ensuring that Board decisions are duly acted on

2. Oversee the organising and staffing of the Board meetings, annual Board retreats, Board appreciation events, etc.

3. See to Board members’ appointment, renewal and resignation/retirement.

4. Support Board engagements (e.g. speaking engagements by Board members representing SG Enable, lunches with Minister for Social and Family Development (MSF), disseminating information to the Board as directed by the management and MSF (e.g. newsletters).

5. Handle ad hoc queries pertaining to the Board.

Other Duties

  1. Report to/update external stakeholders on SG Enable’s progress in the following areas:
  • The Enabling Masterplan
  • Half-yearly reporting of SG Enable’s performance to the National Council of Social Services and MSF as part of SG Enable’s obligations under the respective Funding Agreements
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • Relevant degree, with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, paired with good grounding in business operations and a strong sense of reality
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Good organisation skills to ensure tasks are on track and delivered in a timely manner
    • Good people skills to engage internal and external stakeholders
    • Prior experience in the disability sector or familiarity with disability issues is an advantage
