Corporate Legal Counsel

Overseeing legal matters in a multinational, industry-leading company is no small task. It requires intense focus and an incredibly sharp eye for detail. That is why we need the most competent legal expert in the business – is that you?

You will report to our Regional Finance Director for ROCKWOOL Asia and be responsible for rendering assistance to ROCKWOOL Asia to ensure that legal matters are being dealt with in a prudent way.

You will become part of the global legal & compliance community in the ROCKWOOL Group consisting of 14 group legal & compliance colleagues headed by our Group General Counsel situated in Denmark as well as 15 colleagues in ROCKWOOL subsidiaries throughout the world.

This is the role

You will be the go-to legal expert for ROCKWOOL Asia, which covers Malaysia, Thailand, India, Japan, China, and Singapore. You should expect some travel to our sites in Asia and occasionally to Europe.

Your work will consist primarily of classical legal work, handling contracts on marketing, sales, procurement, HR matters, disputes, management of external law firms, and the like. You will also be handling compliance activities within competition law, contract management, data privacy, anti-bribery, code of conduct, trademarks, etc.

To ensure that compliance is top of mind for everyone, you will host seminars for your colleagues, educating them on these matters.

You will be placed in our Malaysian company, ROCKWOOL Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, in Kuala Lumpur. You will be closely connected to the legal department in ROCKWOOL A/S in Denmark.

This is what we expect from you

Communicating comes naturally to you, even when conveying the more complicated legal matters. It does not matter who you are presenting it to; you can make it simple and interesting. It is important that you are well organized, thorough, diligent, and can work independently.

As to the specific:

1. You have at least five years of prior experience from the legal department of an international company or from a globally oriented legal firm.
2. You have a Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited law school and you possess CLP/have been admitted to the Bar in the jurisdiction relevant to the company's operations.
3. Experience as an in-house legal counsel is preferred.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of adaptation of the law within the cultural and legal framework of Asia.
5. You have worked with general contract law and compliance.
6. You speak and write fluent English.
