About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and articulate Corporate Communications Assistant Manager to drive the company’s external and internal communication initiatives. The ideal candidate for the role should possess excellent media relations experience, content development capabilities, a strong grasp of brand positioning, and the ability to manage cross-functional collaboration.
What you'll be doing
Build and manage relationships with media representatives, journalists, and industry partners to secure positive coverage.
Develop and distribute press releases, media kits, newsletters, and other communication materials in line with corporate messaging.
Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and brand perception; provide actionable insights to refine strategic positioning and communication approach.
Support the planning and execution of press events, public appearances, and media engagements.
Assist in developing and implementing strategic communication plans to enhance brand identity and increase visibility across digital, print, and industry platforms.
Draft, edit, and produce high-quality newsletters, articles, speeches, and branded content that align with the company’s voice and tone.
Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent messaging across all internal and external channels.
Contribute to and support the execution of integrated marketing and corporate communication campaigns across earned, owned, and paid media.
Assist in the development of crisis communication strategies and materials, including holding statements, response templates, and talking points.
Support media training and preparation of key spokespersons on response protocols.
Maintain readiness to assist with real-time response during crises or sensitive public matters.
Act as a communication liaison for key stakeholders including government agencies, industry associations, and internal leadership.
Support the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies to strengthen relationships and advocacy positioning.
Assist in coordination with external agencies and vendors for communications-related projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Assist in evaluating vendor performance and recommending future improvements or partnerships.
What we're looking for
Minimum 3 years experience in PR or corporate communications, preferably in marketing/communications sectors.
Degree qualification in the relevant field (Public Relations, Communications, etc.)
Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken; Mandarin is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Competent in using design and editing tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.), basic photography/videography, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proven media relations experience and a track record of securing media coverage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate PR impact.
Attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills.
Knowledge of the industry and ability to navigate government relations is a plus.
Familiarity with handling confidential information securely.
Experience in event planning and management.
