ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to BAT’s Standards of Business Conduct, underlying legal standards and in-house policies, as it relates to the compliance topics within the Service Catalogue; Sanctions, Conflicts of Interest, SoBC Signoff, Anti-Finance Crime, Gifts & Entertainment, Policy Management. Responsible for being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the compliance topics as well as supporting End Markets within a DRBU across activities identified in the service catalogue. Being the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the DRBU. Responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as providing guidance on compliance matters.
Deliver compliance value add services through introduction/coordination of compliance-based process and digitisation initiatives aimed at both effectiveness and efficiency. Conduct and manage controls quality (testing) reviews and investigations, including critical issues using available BAT processes (i.e. IRI, Control Navigator Actions). This role provides direct support to Commercial Units in providing BAT with a robust compliance framework that supports its Standards of Business Conduct and instils/champions a value of delivering with integrity, through the provision of 2nd Line of Defence services.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Providing guidance to Central Functions, DRBUs, and End Markets on deviations to compliance policies and procedures.
- Providing guidance to Central Functions, DRBUs, and End Markets on controls process support models.
- Developing and communicating compliance process guidance documentation (guides).
- Developing and conducting training pertaining to the compliance topics covered in the Corporate Compliance Service Catalogue.
- Providing inputs to End Market Legal and Compliance Training Cycle Plans.
- Ensuring a consistent approach to the content and method of delivering compliance training.
- Preparing and delivering reports/dashboards to senior management on Quality Assurance Review results, progress of corrective actions, and trends.
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert on compliance topics covered in the Corporate Compliance Service Catalogue, specifically as it relates to their associated policies, procedures, and control processes.
- Collaborating with team members in identifying training/communication/documentation needs, process simplification and automation opportunities.
- Collaborating with global compliance SMEs in identifying key messages and initiatives to be implemented in End Markets, as well as to provide feedback on End Market requirements, business scenarios and impacts of global initiatives/requirements.
- Participating in various governance fora – AFC/CRA Global Compliance Council, End Market GRCC (upon invite), and DRBU Governance (upon invite).
- Engaging with Business Controls Teams (BCT) and Internal Audit (IA) teams on matters related to the processes/controls related to compliance topics covered under the Corporate Compliance Service Catalogue.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Experience Required
- Implementing, managing, or having worked in an environment with a compliance program, advised by a compliance framework.
- Implementing and/or managing compliance controls in a highly digitised environment.
- Conducting quality assurance testing on compliance topics and/or working in an Internal Audit team/capacity.
- Using data analytics tools and analytical methods in interrogating data/processes.
- Relevant experience in law, ethics, organizational business, or finance (i.e. SOX environment).
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Knowledge of regulations – such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing, Tax Evasion, Sanctions, Export Controls, Anti-Competitive Behaviour – preferred but not key.
- Interviewing, investigation, and auditing skills.
- Presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to create and deliver training to small and large audiences.
- Leading cross-functional work teams, where these are constituted to implement globe/area compliance requirements and/or corrective action plans.
- Communication and influencing skills, continuously improving partnership with key collaborators.
- Quantitative and analytical skills.
- Skilled in use of analytical tools including database interrogating tools (i.e. SQL, MS Excel, PowerBI, others).
BENEFICIAL
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
- BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration or related field.
- Certified compliance professional is a plus.
- Project management or analysis certification would be well regarded.
