Cloud Engineer

Summary of the role

The Cloud Engineer is responsible as an Architect in developing the architectural design based on cloud service providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) architectural principles and best practices; leveraging cloud service provider services to ensure infrastructure scalability, reliability, and resiliency; as well as private cloud technology (VMware NSX, Redhat OpenStack). The incumbent will lead in developing the Migration Practice, elevating the technical execution and delivery with different cloud migration approaches. They will also coordinate with different internal teams and external vendors/partners to ensure successful cloud migration, provide expert views, inputs, and recommendations for customer decisions based on technical judgment, and drive processes and execution goals. The role will be responsible for developing and executing strategies for various phases of large-scale migrations for customers who are rapidly moving a large number of applications onto cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

1. Evaluate cloud application requirements and make architectural recommendations for implementation, deployment, and provisioning of applications on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, VMware NSX, Redhat OpenStack).
2. Provide best practices guidance on the architectural design across multiple applications.
3. Identify and define technical requirements for a cloud-based application.
4. Design available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on cloud platforms.
5. Utilize and deploy network, storage, and database services in cloud environments.
6. Recommend best practices for building secure and reliable applications on the cloud platform.
7. Conduct deep dive discussions on cloud service provider architectural principles, cloud global infrastructure, and network technologies related to cloud platforms, including security features and tools that cloud service providers offer in relation to traditional services.
8. Involve in cloud migration in re-hosting, re-platforming, re-factoring, and re-architecting applications to cloud platforms, database migration, and applications optimization to scalable cloud design patterns.
9. Perform any other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

1. Preferred Singapore Citizen / PR.
2. Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science.
3. Minimum of 2 Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Architect Professional Certifications, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect, VMware Certified Professional.
4. At least 3 years of experience in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and VMware NSX.
5. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in designing and deploying cloud architecture on Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and VMware NSX.
6. Possess cloud experience in the following areas:
1. Cloud Strategy including application assessment, migration strategy and planning, Cloud Operating Model, and design.
2. Cloud Security Architecture and Compliance, Third-Party security tools and platforms, KMS and CloudHSM, Inspector, Macie, IAM policies and roles, Shield, and WAF.
3. Cloud Migration in re-hosting, re-platforming, re-factoring, and re-architecting applications to Cloud, database migration, and applications optimization to scalable cloud designs.
7. Hands-on cloud platform experience with at least 2 implementations or migrations in an enterprise-scale environment.
