Job description

1. Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Spearhead the creation of financial strategies, including forecasting and budgeting, that are closely aligned with the company’s goals and long-term objectives.
  • Work closely with the top management to establish the financial direction of the company and set clear financial objectives that drive overall business growth.
  • Regularly track and evaluate financial performance, offering strategic insights to senior management and recommending actionable improvements to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Analyze the financial implications of different scenarios and deliver data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making and forecast potential outcomes, and evaluate how different variables can impact the company’s financial health.

2. Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, tax filings and other regulatory reports.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting in line with regulatory requirements, upholding transparency and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Oversee cash flow management, capital allocation and funding strategies to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Provide detailed reports on project profitability and budget adherence for major construction projects, ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Manage cash flow, debt, investments and working capital to preserve the company’s financial stability and long-term viability.

3. Risk Management and Mitigation:

  • Evaluate and manage financial risks associated with construction projects, including cost overruns, delays and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure the company obtains the necessary bonding to protect against project failures and fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Develop and execute risk management strategies, incorporating insurance, hedging and financial controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
  • Enforce robust financial risk mitigation measures and stay current on regulatory changes to ensure compliance, protect stability, and minimize exposure to risks.

4. Strategic Planning and Investment Decisions:

  • Analyze potential investments in project, technology and business expansion to ensure long-term financial sustainability and growth.
  • Conduct financial feasibility assessments for potential mergers or acquisitions, aiming to expand the company’s reach and enhance its capabilities.
  • Monitor market trends to pinpoint emerging construction sectors with growth potential, developing financial plans to support expansion initiatives.
  • Partner with the leadership team on key business initiatives, including business expansion and service diversification, to drive company growth and competitive advantage.

5. Building Relationships with Lenders and Investors:

  • Establish and cultivate strong, long-term relationships with lenders and investors to build trust, ensuring access to financing for future projects.
  • Work closely with lenders and investors to negotiate favorable loan terms, interest rates and investment conditions that align with the company's financial goals.
  • Continuously assess different financing sources, such as debt, equity and hybrid models, ensuring the company has the flexibility to secure the best options for growth.
  • Develop clear communication channels to manage investor expectations and deliver consistent, transparent reporting on financial performance and strategic goals.

6. Team Leadership:

  • Manage and create a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering professional development and operational efficiency.

7. Other Duties:

  • Assist the top management on any other financial related matters as assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess professional accounting certification or membership such as ACCA/CPA/MIA, etc.
  • At least 20 years of experience in financial and accounting with several years of CFO experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and results-driven approach.
  • Excellent time management and able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Attention to details with problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good command of spoken English.
