Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara, will mark the first Hyatt House hotel in Malaysia and South East Asia. Located in Mont' Kiara, an affluent suburb located five kilometers from downtown Kuala Lumpur, the hotel will feature approximately 298 guestrooms, a three-meal restaurant, 3,100 square feet of meeting space, a fitness centre, and a sky pool.

We are currently looking for an experienced Chief Engineer - Engineering to lead and be responsible for the Engineering and Safety & Security department. This position reports to the hotel General Manager.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading a team and maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components, including mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, information technology, and liaison between facility and service contractors for on-property needs. The person is also in charge of maintaining all equipment in guest rooms, conducting monthly safety inspections, and training the staff on safety and emergency procedures, and working with vendors.

The Chief Engineer must be willing to respond to emergencies and work with corporate maintenance on special remodeling projects or capital expenditure needs. An individual with a spirit of determination, drive, and desire to complete tasks in an efficient and speedy manner, you will be confident and driven in your approach.

You are technically savvy and are known for your ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels, have a strong eye for detail, and must be able to constantly maintain high service standards and problem-solve with employees and guests. Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and be constantly hands-on and ready to lend expertise within other departments of the hotel.

Key Qualifications and Requirements:

• Demonstrate a passion and proven results for coaching and leading hotel team members to achieve team success.
• Demonstrate an ability to use a building management system in order to make fact-based decisions that help in the efficient operations of the hotel.
• Previous hotel experience with hotel properties or serviced residences that have over 230 rooms will be preferred due to the complexity of the building and operations.
• Possess a Degree or Diploma in Engineering studies or technical disciplines.
• A minimum of 5 years or more work experience in a senior role within an international chain hotel engineering department and have led a team of engineering associates.
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. The ability to converse in other languages will be an added advantage.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage and lead hotel on-site engineering functions to ensure proper fiscal management, stock management, and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel.
• Demonstrate a flair to review all monthly and annual financial statements.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment, such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, and maintenance of records of power, water, and fuel consumption city codes and other applicable building laws, building construction, OHSA regulations, and blueprint reading.
• Applicants who have a strong working knowledge and experience with hotel security systems and in leading security personnel will definitely be having an additional advantage for this role.
