Category Manager (Luxury Marketplace)

We are looking for a Category Manager (Marketplace) to join ZALORA’s Commercial team, who has prior industry experience working with Premium & Luxury Brands. Reporting to the Head of Luxury, this role is based in Kuala Lumpur and is responsible for the growth of the Luxury marketplace business through the acquisition of new suppliers/brands and the account management of existing marketplace suppliers. The role is a managerial position, with a team of five account managers. This is a unique, exciting opportunity to influence minds and make a positive difference to ZALORA, and to your career.

Responsibilities:

• Identify potential suppliers/brands and convince them to sell their products through our website
• Identify categories that need further improvement in assortment and source relevant SKUs for the category
• Negotiate trading margins with potential suppliers on consignment and marketplace terms
• Regularly meet key suppliers and provide updates regarding sales performance and required assortment
• Liaise with suppliers through email and phone on sales performance and ensure regular inbound of new items
• Together with the planner team, monitor and take accountability of weekly sales and profit and respond to the product performances with effective merchandise strategies.
• Work with suppliers on discounting and returning aging stock
• Proactively conduct competitor analysis to ensure a competitive advantage
• Proactively recommend initiatives to continuously improve product range
• Manage and develop a team of 5 direct reports
• Drive marketing and advertising campaigns for Luxury suppliers
• Provide buying team with relevant fashion events and latest fashion trends

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor Degree with economics, finance, business, marketing background from reputable university
• Excellent or fluent English skills required
• Minimum 5 years working experience as Buyer/Merchandiser/Consignment/Key Account Manager in the platform/online business, or retail/department stores handling luxury category
• Minimum 2 years leading a team of directs
• Great project management skills
• Great communication skills
• Strong understanding of MS Excel is a must
• Exceptional time management skills
• Willingness to work in a multicultural environment
• A dynamic, results driven personality, high level of enthusiasm and commitment

• Self-starter
