Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Coordinates buying activities for procurement team.
  2. Manages team projects and allocates resources.
  3. Provides advice on procurement documentation creation, review and approval.
  4. Provides direction for customization of procurement documentation and creates database of standards.
  5. Advises on procurement plan development, source lists, methods of bid/quotation, and negotiations.
  6. Leads development of complex procurement documentation.
  7. Leads complex procurement activity where no precedents or local expertise exists.
  8. Develops purchasing policies and procedures.
  9. Advises and directs internal customers on applicable policies and procedures.
  10. Maintains responsibility for new site acquisition procurement activities.
  11. Prepares and places purchase orders, requisitions, and expedite as required.
  12. Recommends solutions for cost savings, on time deliveries and overall quality.
  13. Acts as primary contact with suppliers, internal and external customers to facilitate problem resolution and performance standards.
  14. Ensures availability of goods and services to meet committed business schedules.
  15. Generates reports and coordinates consistent procurement metrics.
  16. Administers and coordinates closure of invoice discrepancies and negotiates adjustments with suppliers to resolve in a timely manner.
  17. Acts as team leader, mentor, and coach within the Purchasing team.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  1. Broad knowledge of an electronics manufacturing environment, material, and processes.
  2. Broad knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management, and supplier management.
  3. Knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department.
  4. Strong knowledge of negotiation techniques.
  5. Broad knowledge of a wide range of contracts.
  6. Strong communications and presentation skills.
  7. Good leadership and coaching skills.
  8. Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  9. Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and problem-solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  10. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  11. Strong knowledge of SCM policies, procedures, and ISO standards.
  12. Six to Ten years of relevant experience.
  13. Bachelor's degree in a related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  14. Applicants should be willing to work in Senai, Johor.
