Buyer II

POSITION SUMMARY :

Responsible for on-time delivery per request to ensure supply continuity and maintain inventory control at a reasonable level. The position requires monitoring and improving suppliers’ performance, maintaining efficient communication internally and externally, and strengthening AE’s business relationships with suppliers. Duties include, but are not limited to, achieving favorable results, maintaining systems accurately and timely, and completing tasks and assignments within required time periods. Provides assistance in various purchasing assignments and planning for lower to medium value production materials under limited supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Review Business Requirements Planning (BRP) Report and analyze suggested orders and/or alterations.
2. Educate suppliers on performance measurements and continuous improvements.
3. Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance against corporate zero defects and on-time delivery objectives, collaborating with related teams to improve performance.
4. Develop a good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quantity and quality requirements and within established standard costs.
5. Acquire in-depth knowledge of assigned commodities/suppliers, technologies, manufacturing processes, and related industries to expedite results effectively.
6. Purchase parts/materials using Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and Requests for Information (RFI), negotiation, contracts, cost analysis, and internal/external technical expertise.
7. Establish and strengthen good business relationships with suppliers and internal customers; work closely with planning and demand teams to understand real demand fluctuations and proactively address changes.
8. Maintain effective communication with suppliers via daily emails, phone calls, or conference calls regarding delivery issues, DMR issues, GR issues, quality issues, payment issues, or others until resolved.
9. Ensure proper and timely system maintenance; complete purchasing assignments within deadlines at a high level.
10. Keep inventory at a reasonable level per requirements through negotiations with suppliers, including pushing out, rescheduling, or canceling open orders.
11. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
12. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

• Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.
• Standard office environment with general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
• Infrequent travel may be required.
• Overtime work may be required.
• Ability to work under pressure.

EXPERIENCE :

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or new product introduction environment.
• Good knowledge of SAP.
• Experience managing/supporting projects as a coordinator or leader of a commodity group.
• Preferably several years of experience in handling PCBA purchases or Higher Level Assembly (HLA) purchases.
• Familiarity with procurement systems and procedures, with recommendations for improvements in communication/business dealings.
• Strong communication, coordination, and supervising capabilities; demonstrate leadership abilities.
• Support the purchasing manager in driving team results.

EDUCATION :

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Logistics, Material Management, or equivalent education and/or experience.
