Job description

Responsible for on-time delivery per request to ensure supply continuity while maintaining inventory control at a reasonable level. The position requires monitoring and driving improvements in suppliers’ performance, maintaining effective communication internally and externally, and strengthening the core competencies of AE’s business relationships with suppliers. Duties include, but are not limited to, achieving favorable results, maintaining systems correctly and timely, and completing tasks and assignments within the required time period. This role provides assistance in various purchasing assignments and planning of lower to medium value production materials under limited supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Review Business Requirements Planning (BRP) Report and analyze suggested orders and/or alterations.
  • Educate suppliers on performance measurements and continuous improvements.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance against corporate zero defects and on-time delivery objectives, working with related teams to improve performance.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quantity and quality requirements and within established standard costs.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned commodities/suppliers and related industries to expedite results effectively.
  • Purchase parts/materials using Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and Request for Information (RFI), including negotiation, contracts, cost analysis, and internal/external technical expertise.
  • Establish and strengthen good business relationships with suppliers and internal customers; work closely with planning and demand teams to understand real demand and fluctuations, proactively addressing any changes.
  • Maintain good communication with suppliers via daily emails, phone calls, or conference calls when there are delivery, DMR, GR, quality, payment issues, or others until resolved.
  • Maintain systems correctly and timely; complete purchasing assignments within required timeframes at a high level.
  • Keep inventory at reasonable levels through negotiation with suppliers by pushing out, rescheduling, or canceling open orders.
  • Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
  • Overtime work may be required.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Travel may be required infrequently.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Excellent organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility to handle changing conditions.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or purchasing/planning environment; familiarity with SAP operation; team spirit is essential.
  • Ability to apply intermediate subject matter knowledge to solve common business issues. Act as an experienced team member providing analysis and project direction input. Work independently with limited supervision and guidance on unique situations. Follow established guidelines and interpret policies. Evaluate unusual circumstances and make recommendations.
  • Interpret and coordinate technical, business-related information. Communication requires persuasion skills. Regularly resolve usual problems and collaborate on work procedures, including team projects. Initiate and develop relationships with others as a key priority.
  • Flexible in dealing with business and providing guidance to entry-level buyers or interns. Sensitive to purchasing progress and make recommendations for process improvement.

EDUCATION :

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Purchasing/Logistics/Material Management, or equivalent education and/or experience.
