SALARY: £38,000 per annum, OTE bonus scheme and company car or car allowance

Purpose of the role:

WasteRecruit has been tasked with supporting the recruitment of a Commercial Business Development Manager. Working closely with the Head of Commercial Business Development Executives and Business Development Coordinators, you will lead the delivery and closure of a robust sales pipeline, driving growth in line with the commercial budget.

The intention is to expand the business from integrated waste management services to include soft facilities management services over the next 2-3 years. Activities will include establishing a robust sales pipeline, generation of new commercial leads, closing new sales opportunities, key target and account development, mobilising new sales, and working with the Marketing and Communications Manager to input into PR and marcomms activities; introducing a modern digital sales approach along with other related sales and marketing initiatives. The role will be concentrated on the Bristol region.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Sales Activities

  1. Provide leadership and ownership in developing and implementing sales initiatives that will attract new customers and support the retention and growth of current customers in the region and the business as a whole.
  2. Lead the sales drive into a wider integrated services business providing waste management and soft facilities management services.
  3. Develop and implement capture plans and key account plans for new customers that will promote profitable business growth.
  4. Prepare, produce and present service solutions via proposals, costings, digital and other methods.
  5. Establish and deliver a robust sales funnel of opportunities in line with business plans and strategy.

Lead Generation Activities

  1. Effectively use modern Digital, Social sales, and Telesales methods and tools (as appropriate) to stimulate high volumes of good quality lead generation.
  2. Work with the Commercial Growth Marketing Manager to lead the development and implementation of sales plans, market and sales research, and information dossiers for assigned business activities, new key targets, customers (Key Account Plans) and locations (to include competitor analysis as appropriate).
  3. Input into the development of communications collateral such as brochures, websites, digital and social media using an integrated approach.
  4. Work with Transport Managers and other business partners as appropriate – always promoting a “joined-up” approach across the business.
  5. Develop modern sales toolkits that will continuously improve the business development function.
  6. Support other related business activities such as team development, recruitment, financial, operations etc. as required.
  7. Attend events, exhibitions, and sales meetings through to customer presentations and launch events.
  8. Produce reports, presentations and lead/attend business meetings as directed.

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  1. High-quality IT skills with a high-level working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, cloud-based CRM, digital marketing, and social selling applications, including the use of mobile devices.
  2. Ability to produce high-quality proposal documents, spreadsheets, and presentations from first principles.
  3. A high level of experience with social and network selling methods using B2B applications such as LinkedIn.
  4. Experience of establishing and using a cloud-based sales CRM and effective database.
  5. Several years of experience of working in the integrated facilities management service or waste management sector or associated environments.
  6. Several years of experience working in a dynamic sales environment with a high field sales or key account content.
  7. A proven track record of achieving sales targets using a structured sales approach.
  8. Experienced in lead generation activities using telesales and digital methods.
  9. Experienced in using a modern CRM system for pipeline and key account management.
  10. Very good experience and knowledge of working in B2C and B2B environments.
  11. Experience of working with a large multi-million business, sales structures, processes, and systems.
  12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus a relentless ability to come up with different ideas and initiatives that will help the business to achieve its objectives.
  13. First-class management, organisation, prioritisation of multiple tasks, and communication at executive levels.
