We are looking to hire anAutomation Lead Engineer for our client in KSA.
The Automation Lead Engineer is accountable for the development of an integrated automation system that reflects the company'sautomation requirements and specifies the design, implementation, and integration of the process control system. He fully needs to use his technical knowledge and skills to implement the industry's best practices, strategies, and methods to increase overall equipment effectiveness and efficiency. He is responsible for technical support, automation system inspection, data collection, troubleshooting, and reliability implementation.

- Coordinates with the EHS team about any action they take to comply with the EHS act or regulations.
- Conducts employee observations to ensure safety and procedures are being followed and deals with safety issues that are escalated to him.
Engineering & Maintenance Support
- Provides technical support to meet the operational reliability level specified for the Rolling Mill.
- Assists Rolling Mill maintenance department to implement site-wide maintenance strategy applying Lessons Learned.
- Assists area engineers by providing advanced troubleshooting capabilities and resolves more complex technical problems to get the system/equipment back in running condition.
- Assists in the maintenance or emergency repairs inspections and provides technical automation assistance to maintenance superintendent and technicians as assigned.
- Provides recommendations for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for Rolling Mill automation systems.
- Participates, when assigned, in site inspections and safety, quality, or production investigations.
- Collects and does engineering data analysis, evaluates conceptual engineering plans, and prepares & evaluates the designs and plans according to specifications.
- Conducts chronic Failure Elimination / Root Cause Analysis (RCA) studies as required and tracks/reports the implementation of corrective actions assigned to responsible plant personnel.
- Reviews technical proposals for outsourced maintenance services, for automation, assuring a clear scope of work for routine or down day/shutdown maintenance activities. Oversees automation maintenance services.
- Ensures that the received data, drawings, and documentation concerning maintenance from project contractors and vendors are complete as per the project contract specifications.
- Reviews and assists in Reliability Centralized Maintenance (RCM) by assigning equipment criticality rankings, performing failure analysis, and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Works closely with area engineers, maintenance superintendent, and planners to ensure each maintainable automation system/equipment has an optimum maintenance plan and needed spare parts are ordered and stocked, and properly leveled.
- Attends supplier automation integration test, participates in factory acceptance tests and site-based commissioning of automation equipment and system.
- Proposes revamping projects / capex projects, prepares scope of work and specifications to improve Rolling Mill facility/equipment availability, and participates in reviewing, supervising, and implementing the approved projects.
- Strives in implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing (LM), and Reliability Excellence (REX) for automation throughout the Rolling Mill in his designated area.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Control Systems Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience in the automation field.
- Experience in handling engineering principles and practices in a rolling mill or relevant industry in automation and instrumentation fields.
- Attended specialized training in automation, for example, Siemens S7, Siemens safety PLC, Simens Drives, Wincc HMI, and Siemens TIA.
- Experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Human Machine Interface (HMI), Automated Storage, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Advance Process Controls (APC), Emergency Shutdown System (ESD), Machine Monitoring and Instrumentation devices.
Skills and Attributes
- Data gathering techniques for organizing and interpreting data and the ability to accurately compile, interpret and apply a variety of field notes, data tables, and other information to engineering problems.
- Knowledgeable in PdM.
- Computer proficiency and potential in data management and project planning and performance of engineering functions including but not limited to MS Office software.
- Managing private contractors in maintenance jobs and projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Ability to read and understand technical writing and ability to understand and interpret complex and technical information
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to present research findings in a clear written report form.
- Maintain the plant process area through a CCTV system.
