About The Job

You will be responsible for managing and delivering medium to high complexity projects with professionalism and a focus on customer satisfaction. Contribute to project sales support, conduct comprehensive specification reviews, and uphold stringent quality control standards. Participate in customer meetings to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and effectively translated into engineering deliverables. Collaborate closely with process and machine engineering teams, project management, and procurement to ensure seamless project execution and effective supplier interactions. Assist in developing efficient automation standards and guidelines within the BU Food Systems, ensuring alignment, standardization, and quality across applications.

The role involves occasional travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning support, service assistance, and customer training.

Job Description

1. Design, develop, and implement control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems for process plants.
2. Carry out automation engineering for complete process plants, focusing on precise specifications and calculations.
3. Develop hardware and software requirements for control panels, along with essential technical documentation, functional design specifications (FDS), and operation and maintenance manuals (O&M Manuals).
4. Collaborate with sub-suppliers and provide hotline support to facilitate a successful plant startup.
5. Optimize existing processes for efficiency and reliability in our control and automation systems.
6. Plan & schedule the project plant/module Control systems related activities as per overall project plans.
7. Responsible for PLC SCADA/HMI software design, development and commissioning.
8. Writing and testing PLC programs for complex process plants/modules using Siemens TIA portal/Rockwell Factory talk.
9. Assist with designing the control & instrumentation network using standard communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, IO Link etc.
10. Specification of request for quotes for automation systems (PLC and HMI) based on input from Process and electrical teams.
11. Support start-up, commissioning and troubleshooting either at site or remotely.
12. Responsible for handling of several small to midsize software projects at the same time in accordance with time schedule and budget established by the project managers.
13. Review of vendor’s control system proposal, technical bid evaluation for various supplies.
14. Participate in Vendor software testing such as Software FAT, SAT.
15. Understanding and assistance in design, site support and development for following areas:
1. Control room layout
2. PLC Panel GA, Wiring, BOM drawing
16. Participate in proposal, procurement and sales work as & when required.
17. Managing documentation, including design specifications, test/verification procedures, operating instructions, and software documentation.
18. Attend meetings and technical discussions with customer, consultants and external vendors.

What You Know

1. Bachelors or master’s in electrical/Instrumentation/Electronics/Automation Engineering.
2. Fluent in written and spoken English.
3. Experience in PLC and SCADA software development.
4. Full working proficiency with Siemens TIA portal or Rockwell Factory Talk.
5. Detailed knowledge of various PLC hardware, I/O cards, HMI system etc.
6. Knowledge of ISA S88 document preparation and software development will be an added advantage.
7. Proven experience (min. 8 to 10 years) in automation and control engineering.
8. Hands-on experience with PLC programming using Siemens & Rockwell.
9. Strong knowledge of SCADA systems and HMI design.
10. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, IO Link, etc.).
11. Experienced in writing Control Concepts and Control Description.
12. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
14. Effective communication and project management skills.
15. Proactive with cross-cultural awareness.
16. Structured and systematic approach.
17. Orientation on high quality and standards of work results.
18. Able to work under pressure and deliver the consistent results.
19. Able to prioritize urgent tasks, flag concerns, and collaborate effectively.
20. Willingness to travel (At least 50% travelling).
21. Experience of working abroad and travelling.
22. Fluent in reporting and documenting your work and can use MS-Office tools.
