The Associate Piping Designer is an entry-level position, and their work is completed with close supervision and support. They work within clearly defined standard operating procedures and scientific methods and adhere to quality guidelines. The Associate Piping Designer should have basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process and appropriate licenses/training certifications.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
High School graduate with a diploma in Mechanical Design or Drafting in a related discipline or equivalent experience
Entry level to less than 3 years drafting and/or design
Detailed knowledge of 2D CAD and/or other drafting software
Proactive and willing to learn
Flexible for business traveling/assignments
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings and deliverables of high technical quality and consistent presentation, ensuring clarity and constructability
Gain experience in the following work areas:
Design
2D drafting
3D drafting and model creation
Develop basic technical skills to complete assigned work
Keep Principal/Senior Designer appraised of all activities, progress, and concerns
Become fully familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements
Assist in developing Plant Design and 3D Modelling under the close supervision of a senior designer
Use communication skills to exchange ideas and information effectively
Apply basic analytical skills and operational procedures to perform straightforward activities
Use standard operating procedures to guide own work and solve standard problems
