Associate Director, APAC Operations Control

Job Summary: The role is responsible for managing the risk & control framework across the APAC Business & Client Services group, supporting the Head of APAC Operations with control oversight. The incumbent will work with the European and APAC Leadership Team to ensure that consistent processes, procedures, and controls are implemented to effectively mitigate key operational risks. The incumbent will collaborate with the regional risk & control leads to ensure seamless communication, coordination, and alignment on operational risk-related projects, goals, and objectives. The incumbent will review and challenge risk metrics across the European and APAC regions to measure, track and ensure our risks are appropriately controlled. The incumbent will coordinate and complete the assurance program for the APAC Business & Client Services group, ensuring control deficiencies are identified, escalated, and remediated timely.

Job Description

What will you do?

  1. Risk & Control Governance: Pro-active review of the control framework (processes, procedures, controls, reporting, etc.) to ensure risks are proactively identified, measured, monitored, reported, and escalated. Provides support in the continuous enhancement of operational risk management approaches, tools, and Management Information aiming to develop, implement, and continuously enhance operational risk management practices.
  2. Oversight on all Operational Risk events, coordinating with the central operational risk & control group to ensure events are accurately captured and remediation actions are appropriate.
  3. Partner with Compliance, Operations Engineering, and Business & Client Services Management to assist reviews and implementation of specific regulatory or market changes across the relevant departments considering internal policy, processes, and operational risks.
  4. Coordinate and complete the RCAP Assurance program for the APAC and EMEA Business & Client Services group, ensuring control deficiencies are identified, escalated, and remediated timely and the Internal Control Management Policy requirements are adhered to.
  5. Coordinate and complete appropriate Operational Risk or Compliance training by the respective areas as and when necessary.
  6. Reviews policies relating to control aspects and gives feedback and input as necessary.
  7. Facilitate Preparation of papers to governing bodies or committees.

Management: Demonstrate leadership by developing people in the region, contributing to and participating in learning and development initiatives, and participating in wider BCS community engagement initiatives. Establish and maintain an environment that empowers direct reports in the APAC region to be productive and resourceful, and that encourages maximum performance, and also manages any low performances appropriately. Frequently review and ensure that potential is managed and that direct reports take an active role in managing their objectives and goals. Ensure that team members understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviours that contribute to RBC goals. Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development, and rewarding strong performance. Accept and successfully execute change while supporting the team through the process and keeping them focused on business priorities. Review new and updated Firm Policies applicable to your team and communicate such Firm Policies to employees for whom you have supervisory responsibilities. In carrying out your supervisory responsibilities, review for indications of non-compliance with Firm Policies, notify the appropriate risk and control areas of such indications, and work with the relevant risk and control areas to remediate issues on a timely basis.
