Associate Dealer/ Dealer, Exchange Rate Management Unit (ERMU)

ROLE PURPOSE

• To carry out analysis, research and intervention in the onshore foreign exchange (FX) market according to the policy mandate of the Bank to maintain orderly market conditions.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Market Surveillance and Intelligence Gathering:

• Perform market intelligence on factors that will affect ringgit exchange rates including information gathering on potential flows and monitoring of buying and selling of foreign currencies against ringgit.
• Conduct foreign exchange market surveillance through networking contacts, research and data analysis of the Ringgit Operations Monitoring System (ROMS) in order to optimise the efficiency & effectiveness of foreign exchange intervention.
• Assess and analyse domestic and global economic outlook that will impact current account and capital account for the purpose of generating flows forecast.
• To carry out ad-hoc research and analysis on topics on interest surrounding the domestic FX market.
• Provide timely market feedback to Management based on market surveillance and analysis of the domestic FX market.

Operations:

• Plan and conduct effective foreign exchange market intervention according to the mandate given by management.
• Identify, formulate, and implement developmental initiatives to enhance the efficiency & effectiveness of foreign exchange intervention operations.
• To manage reporting of BNM International Reserves on a timely basis.
• Managing the Bank’s liability book via various financial instruments.

Market Development Initiatives:

• Formulate and implement market development initiatives to improve market liquidity and access to ringgit market by introducing new instruments, reviewing current policies and collaboration with relevant departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Academic Qualifications: Degree in accounting, economics, banking, finance, mathematics or related fields. Professional qualifications (eg PKMC, CFA, FRA, CAIA, etc) would be an added advantage.
• Experience:
• Associate Dealer: Minimum 1 – 3-year(s) experience in financial and/or financial market related sectors.
• Dealer: Minimum 4 years’ experience in financial and/or financial market related sectors.
