Our client is a diversified group of companies located in Johor. With strong financial backing and a consistent pipeline of business, they provide a good opportunity for career progression and upskilling in a corporate in-house legal role overseeing various aspects of legal. They are now looking for an AVP (Legal) to be a strong team player in the legal division. You will receive support, coaching, and mentoring from the Group General Counsel in a company with a strong employee value proposition.

Job Description

• Assume the role as legal advisor to the company and its group of companies.
• Assist the Group General Counsel in monitoring and managing day-to-day operational legal issues and documentation.
• Ensure all legal documentation and execution are on track with budget, cost, timeline, limits of authority, and standard operating procedures.
• Draft, review, negotiate, approve, and post-monitor legal documents, policies, and procedures.
• Perform legal research.
• As the business partner to the business, provide support in managing legal risk and engage external lawyers as appropriate.
• Maintain and review regulatory and operating compliance standards and procedures from the legal perspective; recommend changes to policy decisions.

The Successful Applicant

• Accredited and recognized degree (LLB or equivalent).
• Possess good drafting and writing skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Experienced in reviewing and preparing corporate and commercial agreements, conveyancing agreements, and due diligence research.
• Ability to review legal and compliance documents and assess the qualitative/quantitative terms of the business impact.
• Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.
• Must be open to relocate to Johor Bahru.
