Job description

Job Title: Manager, Sales

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager, Malaysia & Brunei

Role Purpose: Manage the Travel Agents which involves delivering robust sales and marketing plans, effective customer centric operational excellence to achieve sales targets in line with Revenue Targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish good relationships with all travel agencies, travel trade partners, and tourism boards to drive sales and ensure continuous support rendered that is in line with business sales policy and advise them of the Company’s sales procedure and policy.
  • Explore growth opportunities and implement sales strategies and sales policies to achieve the revenue target, within the budgeted overhead cost allocated and monitor performance data & KPI’s pertaining to sales and revenue.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on opportunities to improve and drive high yield revenue contribution from travel agencies and travel trade partners.
  • Obtain feedback from the trade, analyze the region’s sales performance including performing intelligence on competitor’s sales performance, provide recommendations and possible solutions to the management for a more robust sales drive.
  • Vertical management: Pro-active communication with Regional Sales Manager highlighting threats and opportunities in the home market and timely escalation of issues that may be of relevance from a PR context.
  • Provide ad-hoc/administrative support to Regional Manager Malaysia/Brunei and any other support work assigned and required from time to time.
  • Channel Strategy: Plan and implement sales distribution strategies that maximize revenues at budgeted cost levels. This includes working in tandem with Revenue Management and Marketing in developing IBE sales plans, working actively with tourism boards as part of sales prospecting.
  • Strategic Sales Management: Implementation of agency incentive plans, building Sales visit and activation schedules, effective distribution of agency management portfolios.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Marketing with 4 years experience in Sales Commercial Activities.
  • Diploma in Business, Economics, Accounting, Marketing with 4 years experience in Sales Commercial Activities.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent ability to manage complex problems and issues.
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking.
  • Research market trends and reporting of findings/market data.
  • Negotiation skills, financial and analytical understanding - customer and sales orientation.

Key Challenges:

  • The increase in fuel prices with respect to demand.
  • Gather market intelligence and liaise with the marketing and pricing team to design and roll out promotional and discount offers for market stimulation, penetration, and building brand awareness.
  • Work with internal stakeholders on fixing appropriate incentive structure for travel agents and OTA with a goal to maximize net revenue.
  • Coach and mentor team members as required and ensure resolution of people issues.
