We are looking for an Assistant Manager of Purchasing to support and enhance our procurement operations. This role requires strong leadership, negotiation skills, and strategic planning to ensure efficient supply chain management.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assist the Department Head in Purchasing functions and general administrative actions.
  • Supervise and develop the purchasing team by setting performance goals, delegating tasks, and providing feedback.
  • Oversee mechanical procurement processes, ensuring timely acquisition of necessary mechanical components, equipment, and services.
  • Prepare and manage the department’s budget.
  • Lead contract negotiations to secure cost-effective purchasing agreements.
  • Supervise overall smooth supply of materials.
  • Supervise the periodic forecast to vendors.
  • Supervise Just-In-Time (JIT) deliveries and inventory management.
  • Review and control of freight cost.
  • Maintain appropriate safety stock levels.
  • Support in tooling management activities.
  • Support and ensure smooth execution of new model development and modifications.
  • Review suppliers' overall performance in quality, cost, delivery, and services.
  • Supervise and ensure part approval with JVCKENWOOD Japan designer or Quality Control (QCR) for electrical parts.
  • Lead supplier audits and suppliers' assessments.
  • Prepare and submit purchasing monthly report to top management.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as and when instructed by superior.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing, preferably in manufacturing (Electrical & Electronics).
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of mechanical procurement and an understanding of mechanical drawings is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of MRP forecasting system and material planning.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Good leadership, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Must be computer literate, especially in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge in ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 will be an added advantage.
  • Possess own transport and willing to travel.
  • Applicants should be Malaysian citizens and must be willing to work in Johor Bahru, Johor.
