The Assistant Manager, Interior Design is responsible to assist the Manager, Interior Design to manage and carry out the product development process for the assigned projects on a day-to-day basis by crafting, executing and providing support for related processes and activities across five key project delivery lifecycle stages:
- Concept Brief
- Schematic Design
- Design Development
- Tender Documentation
- Preparation for Construction
This role is also responsible to assist the Design Leads and Chief Development Officer to align product development to meet UEM Sunrise brand and identity, product design DNA, product hierarchy and product standardization for each target market segment.
Interior Design Management
Manage and review interior design activities from design pitching (if any), conceptual to detail design stages for the assigned projects on a day-to-day basis to ensure design proposals by consultants meet company objectives by crafting, executing and providing support for related processes and activities.
- Act as first point of contact for design commentary and communication with consultant team to resolve design related matters timely
- To assess, coordinate, communicate and monitor, with the respective Project Team, to ensure the consultant’s design proposals meet the UEMS brand and identity, product design DNA, product hierarchy, design principles and product standardization for the target market segment.
- To prepare and develop, with the respective Project and Marketing Team, the necessary Design Brief, Product Kit and Management Approval papers for product development activities
- To proactively facilitate, with the respective Project and Marketing Team, to ensure the consultant’s design proposals meet project budget requirements whilst keeping in mind product design DNA, product standardization and target market segment.
- To implement design best practice in achieving good design quality for the product.
- To plan and execute product testing via Focus Group Discussions if required to ensure the product is align with the customer needs.
- To produce design proposals whenever require.
Technical Review & Advisory
Manage and review conceptual design, schematic design, detail design and launching preparation for the assigned projects on a day-to-day basis to ensure design proposals by consultants meet initial design objectives by providing technical support and commentary for related processes and activities.
- Act as first point of contact for technical review, advisory and communication with consultant team on technical and design related matters
- To proactively facilitate alongside PDD BIM Unit on technical review of design inclusive of clash detection for improved construction implementation
- To proactively facilitate, with the respective Project Team, consultant’s design proposal to meet authority requirements to expedite the authority submissions and approvals
- To proactively facilitate, with the respective Project and Marketing Team, consultant’s design proposal on marketing collaterals preparation
Product Value Management
Manage and review design activities for detail design and tender preparation for the assigned projects to ensure design proposals by consultants meet project budget objectives by providing advisory support for related processes and activities.
- To proactively facilitate, with the respective Project Team, consultant’s design proposal to meet initial budget settings and in accordance to product hierarchy
- To provide advisory support on Value Engineering exercises to optimize product value but maintaining the product design DNA and product hierarchy.
Product Standardization & Design Manuals
- Research, compile and develop architectural design related information for product benchmarking, standardization and guideline development for use across UEM Sunrise projects to ensure design management activities are on-point.
Stakeholder Management
- Maintain and strengthen good rapport with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of projects.
