Job description

Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring the rooms of the hotel are well-presented and maintained at all times. We don’t adhere to strict job descriptions; we all like to pitch in. However, here’s an idea of how we see the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager in the daily operation of the department, including supervision of room, laundry, and public area cleaning.
  • Monitor and maintain the hotel’s cleanliness standards in all guest rooms and public areas.
  • Train and mentor housekeeping staff, ensuring that all members understand and comply with hotel standards and operating procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling and managing staff levels to maintain budgeted levels of employment and ensure adequate staffing throughout the year.
  • Inspect rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Manage inventories of guest supplies, cleaning supplies, and linens, and order as needed.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints regarding housekeeping service or accommodations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure that guest needs are met and operations are efficient.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting for the housekeeping department, focusing on cost-saving measures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of previous experience in housekeeping management or supervisory roles within a hotel environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in housekeeping management systems and relevant computer applications.
  • A commitment to delivering high levels of customer service and cleanliness.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • You are a huge people person – a natural host who promotes a hospitable attitude.
  • You always see the glass as half full.
  • You are someone we can rely on to be reliable and honest.

Education:

  • A diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred.
