Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, General Accounting & Reconciliation, this position shall support the General Accounting (GA) BAU operations unit by performing general accounting processes timely and accurately on a daily basis by following the applicable standard operating procedures and internal policies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Perform daily general accounting business-as-usual (BAU) operational tasks and complete BAU timely and properly.
  2. Prepare or post journal entries, upon approval by the authorized approvers.
  3. Perform accounts reconciliation (including suspense accounts) between source systems and GL system timely and properly to ensure completeness and accuracy of journal entries posted.
  4. Investigate the unreconciled differences, including identifying root causes, action plans and target resolution dates to resolve the open items. Escalate issues identified, where appropriate.
  5. Prepare ageing analysis timely and as and when required for reporting purposes.
  6. Follow-up and resolve GL issues/discrepancies timely. Escalate issues identified, where appropriate.
  7. Perform month-end closing tasks and complete month-end closing as per timeline.
  8. Document/Update the general accounting processes SOPs as and when required.
  9. Maintain GL system master data such as creation/deactivation of GL account, maintenance of GL code, etc.
  10. Involve in UAT for any new product/features/digital partners and enhancement/improvement on existing GL posting related matters.
  11. Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Sun System and regularly engage in Sun System enhancement initiatives.
  12. Work closely with the relevant stakeholders on any issues arising from general accounting processes.
  13. Provide support on all issues identified from audit by external auditors, GwIA & Regional SOX team for general accounting processes related area.
  14. Assist on any ad hoc & administrative tasks upon request.

Job Specifications:

Education

  1. Bachelor or Degree in finance, accountancy, banking, investment, economics or equivalent.
  2. Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, etc.) or working towards designation will be an added advantage.

Experience
  1. At least 3 years of working experience in the financial services industry such as insurance or banking.
  2. Working experience in the financial services industry such as insurance or banking will be an added advantage.

Special Business Knowledge and Skills
  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications & financial accounting system.
  2. Knowledge in any automation tool will be an advantage.
  3. Strong analytical and resolution skills.

Others
  1. Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  2. Good interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  3. Independent, organized and possess good work ethics with a positive attitude.
  4. Flexible and able to adapt in a dynamic environment.
  5. Attention to details, meticulous and diligent.
  6. Strict adherence to applicable internal policies and procedures.
