To act in an advisory capacity to the company on all matters pertaining to occupational safety, health & environment
RESPONSIBILITY
Enforcement
To ensure observance of safety rules and regulations & personnel safety
To comply according to Safety Officer Legislation as per OSHA Act 1994
Organize safety, health & environmental program (e.g.: campaign, workshops or awareness programs)
Plan, organize, conduct and coordinate periodic fire evacuation drills
Lead the safety committee meeting and ensure they are sufficiently represented
Organize and conduct safety committee meetings and ensure the meetings are recorded and maintained
Operation
Maintain industrial accident record system, conduct investigations and prepare necessary reports of accidents
Conduct workplace inspections for the purpose of discovering and correcting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions
Conduct safety, health & environmental training where applicable
Liaise with authority bodies e.g., BOMBA, DOE, DOSH, etc., and ensure all statutory reports are submitted on time
Conduct quarterly safety and health audits with committee team and submit findings & recommendations
Ensure all firefighting equipment is in good working condition
Ensure work methods are safe and recommend safety measures to prevent accidents and improve work ergonomics and environment.
Administrative
Submit to management regular monthly reports on updates of safety, health & environment matters
Set safety standards, regulations and recommend provisions for future safety plans
Recommend and keep abreast of the best practices on work methods for the enhancement of work environment and well-being
Lead the safety Gemba Walk for JB Plant to continue promoting safety awareness culture and create effective communication between shop floor and Plant LT
Establish SOP and gap analysis for the preparation of ISO45001 & ISO14001 and be the responsible person to obtain the certification by year 2025
Continuous improvement on regulatory compliance i.e., DOSH and workplace safety for Plant
To plan and execute effective cross-plant audits
To perform any other reasonable duties as and when assigned by superior from time to time
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety & Health or equivalent
Understanding of legal compliance (DOSH, BOMBA & DOE)
Plant Safety Audit/Inspection
Scheduled Waste Management
Microsoft Office, mykkp, E-SWIS, mypremis, OER
Possess good management skills and be well equipped with multi-tasking ability
Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Minimum 3 years working experience as Safety Officer preferably from the Manufacturing industry
