As an Assistant Bakery Manager for a Grocery Retail, you will oversee all daily bakery operations to ensure sales and profit goals are met. You will supervise a team of bakery employees to effectively plan, organize, and control production. Additional responsibilities include inventory management, product ordering, scheduling, and maintaining high standards for quality, freshness, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise bakery staff and coordinate scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
Oversee product ordering and inventory management to optimize stock levels
Ensure bakery equipment is well-maintained and handle billing, receiving, and auditing of vendor deliveries
Design merchandising strategies and product displays to boost sales and capture consumer interest
Maintain recipes and quality assurance standards for all bakery items
Monitor expenses, shrinkage, and waste and implement cost-saving initiatives
Comply with health, safety, and security protocols
Visit competitors to benchmark prices, products, and customer experience
Handle customer queries efficiently and with utmost courtesy
Required Skills and Qualifications
3+ years of related bakery management experience in a grocery or foodservice
Proven track record of supervising and developing bakery teams
Strong operations management and inventory control skills
Effective communicator who can build relationships with staff and vendors
Analytical problem-solver with attention to detail
Passion for baking with solid understanding of recipes and production
Flexible team player who enjoys a fast-paced retail environment
Proficient with MS Office applications and comfortable using bakery machinery and equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Excellent planning and organizational skills with adaptability to changes
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Management, or related field preferred
This position reports to the General Manager / Store Manager.
