Job description
  • Full Set of Accounts & Financial Reporting: Oversee and manage the complete accounting functions, including preparing and reviewing full sets of accounts, financial statements, taxation, and balance sheet analysis. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Accounting Operations & Transaction Oversight: Supervise and monitor day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entries, and invoice processing. Ensure accurate posting of transactions and monitor cash flow and liquidity needs to maintain financial health.
  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial direction to the company and subsidiaries by implementing robust financial planning, budget management, and regular performance reporting. Work closely with senior management to set and achieve financial goals.
  • Analytical Review & Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular Profit and Loss analysis, balance sheet reviews, and trend analyses. Proactively identify discrepancies, implementing corrective actions and process improvements as needed to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop monthly cash flow forecasts and lead the preparation of annual budgets. Provide insights and adjustments based on actuals versus projections, supporting senior leadership in informed decision-making.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax requirements by managing tax return preparation, submission of statutory documents, and audit processes. Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate a smooth audit experience and resolve any audit findings promptly.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, ensuring consistent performance standards and continuous development. Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and collaboration within the finance team.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax consultants, bankers, and regulatory authorities, ensuring clear communication and resolution of any issues. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support internal financial reporting needs and external stakeholder requirements.
  • Process Optimization & System Enhancements: Drive improvements in accounting processes, exploring automation or system enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy. Lead initiatives for better financial controls, risk management, and reporting systems.
  • Payroll & Statutory Compliance: Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements for deductions, timely payments, and accurate reporting. Manage employee payroll inquiries and coordinate with HR for seamless payroll processing.
  • Global Exposure & Adaptability: Leverage international accounting expertise, applying best practices from global accounting standards where relevant. Adapt accounting practices to comply with both local and international rules, adding value through innovative solutions for cross-border transactions.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10-13 years' experience in Accounts & Finance job scope, with a demonstrated track record of handling full set accounts and financial reporting.
  • Degree in Accounting and qualification in ACCA will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations, including statutory compliance related to Tax, Audit and Payroll.
  • Exposure to international accounting practices and regulations is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role within a finance department and able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor accounting teams, promoting a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication skills in liaising with internal stakeholders, auditors, tax consultants, and financial institutions.

Looking for professionally qualified accountants (CA / ACCA / CMA/ CPA) with at least 5 years’ relevant experience in contract accounting, handling statutory auditors and good exposure to Malaysian tax laws and SST.

Contract accounting involves closely managing costs to ensure profitability while delivering the project within budget.

Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in contract accounting, handling statutory auditors and good exposure to Malaysian tax laws and SST.
  • Qualified accountants (CA / ACCA / CMA/ CPA) is preferred.
