About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the role of AGM, KLIA. This position will be responsible for overseeing and driving the success of our KLIA operations, including duty-free shops, airport boutiques, and other travel-related points of sale. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in retail management, a strategic mindset, and the ability to lead a team to achieve business results and provide a world-class customer experience.

Key Responsibilities Area

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for KLIA that aligns with the overall business goals.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the KLIA team to drive sales, optimize operations, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Sales and Revenue Growth

  • Set ambitious sales targets and develop strategies to achieve and exceed them.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth and implement initiatives to maximize sales.

Team Management

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture focused on achieving objectives.

Merchandising and Product Assortment

  • Oversee the selection and presentation of products in KLIA.
  • Work closely with product and marketing teams to ensure the right assortment for target customers.

Customer Experience

  • Implement initiatives to present a world-class customer experience in KLIA.
  • Ensure that customer feedback is collected and used to drive improvements.

Brand Representation

  • Act as a brand ambassador and ensure that the brand is consistently represented. Implement brand guidelines and standards across all points of sale.

Vendor and Partner Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with travel retail partners, including Malaysia airports, MAHB, suppliers and other duty-free operators.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize mutually beneficial outcomes.

Market Analysis

  • Conduct market research to understand travel retail trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive landscapes.
  • Use insights to make informed decisions and stay ahead of industry developments.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards related to travel retail.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations that may impact operations.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for KLIA.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-effective measures to achieve profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 15+ years) in retail management, with a focus on travel retail.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading successful teams.
  • Excellent understanding of the travel retail industry, including duty-free operations.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on achieving sales targets and business objectives.
  • Familiarity with international markets and travel retail regulations.
  • Deep relationships with travel retail brands and suppliers is also preferred.
