About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Foreman to join our dynamic team at Sarawak Oil Palms BHD. (MILL). As an Assistant Foreman, you will play a crucial role in supporting the operations and maintenance of our state-of-the-art oil palm mill in Sarawak. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be part of a leading company in the engineering and maintenance industry.

What you'll be doing

• Assist the Foreman in overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities at the oil palm mill
• Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of all mill equipment and machinery
• Coordinate and supervise the work of technicians and maintenance staff to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
• Identify and troubleshoot any issues or breakdowns, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory
• Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and procedures
• Collaborate with the mill management team to optimize production and maintenance processes
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior maintenance staff

What we're looking for

• Possess Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• At least 3 years of experience as an Assistant Foreman or in a similar maintenance supervisory role, preferably in the oil palm or manufacturing industry
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of oil palm mill equipment and machinery
• Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team and lead a group of technicians
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders
• Familiar with relevant safety regulations and maintenance best practices
• Willing to work in a shift-based schedule, including weekends and public holidays
