Establishes and Implements substation operation and maintenance management system and safety operation regulation;
Ensures that substation personnel performs their duties in compliance with any laws that regulate the field;
Manages all related operations and maintenance activities within the operation of the substation;
Manages substation equipment maintenance programs in accordance to operation and authority requirements, and ensure that the maintenance activities are performed accordingly;
Communicates and coordinates with Competent Switching personnel and State Dispatching Center officer on matters associated with substation operation;
Communicates and coordinates with Production personnel on matters relating to electricity distribution;
Ensures that all pending and completed work orders are properly kept, maintaining these files in an organizationally implemented record-keeping system;
Prepares and maintains the department’s budget, tracking expenses as they occur. Controls department’s expenditures to within specified limits of operation budget;
Assist with qualifying contractors when work must be performed through the use of 3rd party contractors;
Assist with specifying technical requirements and work scope and deliverables of outsourced works;
Assist with coaching and training of supervisory personnel and other team members such that they are clear of their roles and responsibilities and are able to perform their duties competently;
Provides support to subordinates in handling various matters addressing issues encountered;
Assist with assignment of task and duties to supervisors and team leaders and delegation of responsibilities among team members;
Assist with management of supervisors, team leaders and team members by holding them accountable for their responsibilities, providing specific and timely feedback, measuring the performance of team and individuals;
Assists with development of work processes and operating procedures of the department;
Assists with implementation of policies and regulations that are required towards the achievement of the objectives of the department;
Prepares various report required by Management;
Requirements: -
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Higher National Diploma or a related field.
8 years of experience in substation operation (275kV or 132kV or equivalent)
Deep understanding of electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and protective relaying schemes.
Knowledge of substation automation system, SCADA and control technologies.
Familiarity with national and international electrical standards and regulations.
Experience in ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
Ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
Strong analytical; and problem- solving skills to address operational challenges and emergencies.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with various stakeholders, including utility companies, contractors and regulatory bodies
Ability to write clear and concise report and documentation.
