Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile more complex accounts and check the accuracy of journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete.
  • Prepare and review financial reports and accounting statements so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions. These reports may include profit & loss statements, balance sheets, creditors list, accrual, and bank reconciliation. Provide notes to P&L & balance sheets.
  • Collect and compile stock balances from stores. Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and post journal entries.
  • Follow up on provisions, accruals, stocks, utilities, rental, and marketing reconciling, correction, and adjustments to assigned accounts under review, ensuring that necessary actions are taken to clear such items timely.
  • Review cash position and compile, verify, and analyze cash flow information to prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly cash status reports.
  • Coordinate and supervise the maintenance of the general ledger and the production of various resultant financial statements. Normally directs a group or section of general accountants.
  • Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or store managers to help them understand financial reports and manage their financial responsibilities.
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors, tax agents, banks, and government agencies.
  • Coach less experienced accounting staff and help them resolve problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Accounting Degree or Professional qualification in Accountancy with 3-5 years related experience.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting, taxation standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in audit and tax (direct and indirect) is preferable for this position.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel) and other related software.
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
