Introduction
The Strategy Manager will play a crucial role in helping to define and execute on the APAC strategy as part of New Horizons. This role involves a balanced focus on both strategy development and governance (30%) and strategy execution (70%).
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, project management, and governance, with the ability to drive strategic initiatives from conception to completion. Come Join Us.
What You’ll Do
This role reports to Avanade’s Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, APAC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development and Governance (30%):
- Market Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research on the Microsoft aligned mid-market opportunity in support of our strategy ambitions with a focus on region specific insights (for Australia, Japan and SEA). Create a high-level competitive landscape per region to inform strategic decisions.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Chief Strategy Officer to develop and refine the strategic roadmap for APAC. Facilitate strategic planning sessions with key stakeholders and development of the strategy artefacts. Deep dives into each of the key APAC strategy pillars, including Driving Growth (SMC Partner Zero, Acquisition and Scaling Engines), Working Smarter (Geo-Strategy and Malaysia Hub) and Preserve Value (Brand, Innovation and Talent).
- Governance Frameworks: Support the development and implementation of the APAC Strategy measurement and governance frameworks to ensure alignment with New Horizons targets and objectives. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against strategic goals.
- Strategic Workstream Management: Take on a leading role in driving execution of key strategic initiatives in partnership with the responsible Area and Regional leaders and associated working groups. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Track and manage progress and escalate roadblocks or issues that cannot be resolved within the working groups. Top 4 priority workstreams in the first 6 months will include: Acquisition Engine set up and activation (including Marketing, Sales & DDC, and Hero Offer alignment and fulfilment with Client Solutions); Holistic Microsoft engagement model activation.
- Communication and Collaboration: Manage regular updates to APAC leadership on strategy execution status and progress. Ensure effective communication of our strategy and our execution progress more broadly in APAC through regular communications and updates in key forums (i.e., ELT). Put in place checkpoints to gauge broader understanding and buy-in to the strategy and proactively address stakeholder concerns and feedback. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful workstream progress and execution. Implement contingency plans to address potential challenges.
- Governance, Performance Measurement and Reporting: Implement and manage the governance framework and performance measurement systems to track the progress of strategic initiatives. Prepare regular reports and dashboards to communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes to APAC leadership. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and recommend adjustments to the strategy. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and learning from past initiatives through structured retro processes. Implement changes based on insights and lessons learned to enhance future strategy execution.
Skills & Experiences
- Relevant experience in Management Consulting Industry would be an advantage.
- Proven experience in Regional strategic planning, workstream management, and governance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience across multiple regions in APAC would be beneficial.
