AML Compliance Specialist (Contract Only)
The AML Specialist (a contractual role up to end December 2025) plays a critical role in supporting the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Program by assisting with financial crime investigations, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, and advisory services. This position provides temporary relief to the AML team as they focus on executing the AML Technology Transformation (ATT) Project, ensuring that business-as-usual (BAU) compliance activities continue without disruption.
The role contributes to the organization’s financial crime risk management framework by ensuring compliance with the AML regulations and internal policies. The specialist will also help in analyzing emerging financial crime risks, updating compliance policies, and enhancing stakeholder awareness through training initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Program
Business-as-Usual (BAU) Activities
- Case Handling: Conduct investigations on cases, including Enhanced Client Due Diligence (ECDD) cases, and review alerts triggered by name screening and transaction monitoring systems.
- Advisory Services: Provide guidance and advisory support to internal stakeholders on financial crime-related matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare comprehensive reports on AML compliance activities, emerging financial crime trends, and risk assessments to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), senior management, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., regional/enterprise offices).
- Regulatory Change Management: Monitor regulatory developments in financial crime compliance and assist in updating internal policies, procedures, and controls to align with evolving regulatory and enterprise/regional requirements.
- Training & Awareness: Support the manager in the development of training materials, internal communications, and awareness programs to enhance employees’ understanding of financial crime risks, typologies, and red flags.
Provide support to the ATT Project based on tasks and responsibilities assigned by the superior, ensuring effective execution in alignment with project objectives.
Other Responsibilities
Undertake ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by the superior, ensuring timely and effective completion of deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law, Criminology, or related fields
- Candidate who is Certified Anti-Money Laundering Officer (or equivalent qualification) will be added advantage.
- 3 - 5 years of working experience in Compliance and related field, preferably in insurance/takaful industry with holistic knowledge and understanding in managing AML/CFT programme.
- Experience with AML systems, transaction monitoring tools, and name screening processes
- Good analytical skills for data analysis and management reporting
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Ability to analyze large data sets and identify suspicious patterns.
