Our Global Cloud Applications (CApS) team is growing rapidly, and we are looking for an ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) Polarion Senior Solutions Engineer to support our ALM Polarion customers worldwide from our Siemens DISW office location in Penang.
Responsibilities:
- Install & manage Polarion installation & Configuration in clustered environment.
- Working experience with web applications, client-server architecture.
- Have to work in shifts, as we are supporting 24x7 customers.
- May have to work on Call during holidays.
- Solve L2 tickets on the application.
- Apply patches on test, UAT and Production Server.
- Document root cause analysis of issues.
- Reach out to GTAC for Product Issues and raise IRs.
- Communicate with users on issues.
- Work with L3 on issues which can’t be solved by L2.
- Provide workarounds to issues.
- Develop Knowledge Management database for solved issues.
Requirements:
- Preferably have around 7-10 years of ALM / Polarion Support experience with minimum 5 years supporting a customer production instance.
- Preferably possess Siemens ALM Polarion solution skills to do Polarion installation in clustered environment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- ALM/Polarion triaging with strong analytical, systematic problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proven ability in performing root cause analysis with industry techniques and sharing the solutions.
- Scripting knowledge in Perl or Batch scripts would be useful.
- Good to have: ITIL & AWS Cloud Certifications, mentoring of junior team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Mandarin), Japanese language skills will be an added advantage.
- Must have Linux and Windows Operating System knowledge.
- Willing to work on call basis during any holidays.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Contributes to process improvement in Application support and maintenance, providing feedback on the use of processes, systems, and tools in real world situations.
- Focuses on mentoring others to improve technical delivery & support across the business, proactively sharing knowledge to transfer expertise.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Ability to automate some of the tasks.
- Scripting knowledge would be useful.
- DBA knowledge on PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of cloud-based hosting & Knowledge of AWS.
- Good understanding & knowledge of ALM processes.
- Working experience with ALM or Requirements Management or Test Management applications.
- Experience / knowledge with Apache Lucene.
- Use Pareto or 5 Why or any other Industry technique for root cause analysis.
- Technical competence required in Polarion ALM is preferred, however experience with competitive solutions such as Jira, IBM Rational Doors etc. may be considered.
- Working experience in an Agile environment.
- Working experience with Git / SVN.
