Accountant (Finance & Taxation)

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the finance department, ensuring compliance with local accounting and tax regulations, managing financial reporting, and supporting the company’s overall financial health. This role requires strong expertise in audit, tax matters, and financial management to ensure smooth operations and compliance with statutory requirements.

Job Description:

• Lead and oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with local tax and financial regulations.
• Manage and review payment documents, supplier invoices, and tax-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure accurate and timely posting of transactions in the accounting system.
• Perform reconciliation of supplier/sub-contractor statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Conduct regular balance sheet reconciliation for AR & AP accounts.
• Manage tax compliance, including corporate tax, SST, and other relevant filings, ensuring deadlines are met to avoid penalties.
• Oversee the tax provision process and collaborate with auditors and tax authorities (LHDN) on queries and submissions.
• Support statutory audits, ensuring smooth coordination with external auditors.
• Prepare financial and tax reports, including expense analysis and tax computations.
• Provide financial analysis to support management decision-making.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls and compliance measures for the finance department.
• Take ownership of department responsibilities, providing guidance to team members and improving processes.
• Handle any ad-hoc assignments as required by management.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of tax regulations, corporate tax, SST, and compliance requirements.
• Experience in managing audits and liaising with external auditors.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, tax, and audit-related roles.
