Accountant (Corporate Finance - Legal Industry) KL

We are seeking a meticulous and proficient Accountant with expertise in corporate finance to join our law firm in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning. Candidates with a strong command of digital tools and technology will be given preference.

  1. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    - Prepare, analyse, and present financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., MFRS).
    - Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and financial reporting deadlines.
  2. Corporate Finance Management:
    - Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to ensure financial stability.
    - Analyse financial data to provide actionable insights for business decision-making.
    - Support mergers, acquisitions, and partnership agreements from a financial perspective.
  3. Cost and Revenue Management:
    - Monitor operating costs and recommend cost-effective measures without compromising service quality.
    - Oversee accounts receivable/payable and ensure timely collections and payments.
  4. Digital Tools and Automation:
    - Utilize accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or SAP) to streamline processes.
    - Leverage technology to implement automated systems for invoice processing, expense tracking, and report generation.
    - Stay updated with fintech trends relevant to the legal industry.
  5. Collaboration with Stakeholders:
    - Work closely with legal teams to monitor case-related financial transactions and ensure proper billing.
    - Provide financial expertise for legal project budgeting and fee structuring.
  6. Risk Management:
    - Conduct financial risk assessments and ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and client fund management regulations.
    - Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Education & Experience:
    - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    - Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
    - Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the legal or professional services sector.
  2. Technical Skills:
    - Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
    - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and analysis and visual dashboard (Power BI, Tableau).
    - Familiarity with Malaysian taxation laws and corporate finance regulations.
  3. Soft Skills:
    - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    - Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    - High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  4. Digital & Technology Knowledge (Advantage):
    - Experience with digital transformation projects in finance.
    - Knowledge of artificial intelligence tools for accounting and analytics is a bonus.
