JOB DESCRIPTION
The accountant’s role is a professional finance and administration role responsible for performing activities associated with financial and management accounting, cashflow management, statutory management and maintaining effective financial controls while supporting the commercial activities of the business.
This role will look after New Zealand while providing support to Soprano Australia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- AR, AP management considering DSO and DPO targets.
- Liaising with the Financial Controller/ Manager and other stakeholders and peers to ensure timely, accurate preparation and distribution of financial statements with corresponding and complete supporting documentation.
- Providing support in analysis and commentary at each month end review on profit and loss, balance sheet, account receivable ageing (and associated DSO), accounts payable ageing, and profitability by customer.
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed and all reconciling items appropriately addressed in a timely manner for review.
- Ensure all customer invoicing is completed within prescribed timetables and revenue recognized accurately and according to accounting policies and standards.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately coded.
- Manage relevant cashflow requirements including the maintenance of a 12-week forward cashflow forecast. Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
- Assisting with audit preparations.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of statutory returns as required.
- Ensure excellent engagement and collaboration with peers, managers and executives.
- Develop and maintain supporting worksheets.
- Tax management and accurate timely lodgments ensuring compliance.
- Support to admin tasks.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- A degree in Accounting or a Finance discipline.
- A membership (or working towards) with a professional accounting body such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA is a plus.
- 3+ years Accounting, Audit, or Finance experience with good knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards. Exposure to ANZ will be prioritized.
- Strong financial analysis skills, commercial and business awareness.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and specifically be able to apply pivot tables and multisheet formulas.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills demonstrating the ability to communicate problems to others with the same skills.
- Excellent personal planning and time management delivering outcomes according to a set schedule.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- A bright and cheerful disposition, excellent personal presentation and excellent communications and phone skills.
