Job Overview

We are currently seeking a detailed-orientated & analytical Accountant to join our Malaysia team based in Selangor. In this role you will play a vital part in providing financial insights & support to enhance decision making, optimize performance and drive business success. You will be reporting directly to the General Manager with a conduit to the regional Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end closing tasks, coordinate and manage the intercompany AR and AP Recs.
  • Prepare regular excess & obsolete inventory reserve.
  • Review and perform the Percentage of Completion sales accounting on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with the local General Manager and Business Line Managers (BLM’s) to prepare annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, prepare various analysis per the guidance of the regional group controller.
  • Monitor and analyze price variances between standard costs and actual purchasing price, investigate the root causes and place the proper adjustments if needed.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and reconcile inventory data in ERP with actual counting results to make sure there are no discrepancies or variances.
  • Perform research and analysis as required.
  • Ensure compliance with financial guidelines, company policies and SOX internal control requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting required by Nikkiso and various ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Document processes and prepare working procedures.
  • Coordinate & assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Provide leadership with site's ERP system.
  • Undertake cost accounting with WIP, Sales Orders and Projects.
  • Prepare and update fully burdened labour rates.
  • Provide a balanced view by supporting all functional units represented in our Malaysia operation.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Familiarity with the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Previous conversion experience to new software.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel competency is required.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Delivers quality results in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Goal and detail-oriented and self-starter.
  • Able to tabulate statistical data and compile necessary reports.
  • Able to work with all departments with professionalism.
  • Must be able to work independently.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays. To be available during periods of high demand e.g., Closing, EOY audit etc.
  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to other offices or production facilities. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply. Some work from home may be possible with management approval.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for travel between facility locations as required.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is required.
  • CPA or CA accreditation is desirable (company shall support accreditation towards an international CPA accreditation).
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel is necessary.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment with 2+ years business experience in costing, financial planning & analysis.
  • Accounting background and experience required, preferably with full cycle accounting.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of financial strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills required.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted.
  • Experience with J-SOX and SOX internal control compliance preferred.
  • Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP is preferred.
  • Exposure to international financial accounting and multi-currency reporting is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to various ERP systems is preferred; implementation experience is highly desirable.
