We are seeking an experienced finance professional to oversee financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and compliance within our organization. This role involves managing general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring adherence to Malaysia’s Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and tax regulations. The ideal candidate will also handle cash flow management, audit coordination, and financial analysis to support business decision-making. Strong expertise in accounting software, regulatory compliance, and financial forecasting is essential. This position requires a detail-oriented and analytical individual with a high level of integrity and the ability to manage multiple financial responsibilities effectively.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and manage accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysia’sFinancial Reporting Standards (MFRS)andMalaysian Accounting Standards(MAS) in all financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
2. General Ledger Maintenance:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Process accounting entries related to income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and equity.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
3. Taxation:
- Prepare and file tax returns in accordance with theInland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN)regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) or Sales and Services Tax (SST) returns, as applicable.
- Stay updated with changes in tax regulations to ensure compliance with Malaysian tax laws.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to management for decision-making purposes.
- Monitor budget performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
5. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payment to vendors and service providers.
- Manage accounts receivable, ensuring proper billing, collection, and follow-up of outstanding payments.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions and ensure reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable.
6. Audit and Internal Controls:
- Coordinate with external auditors for the preparation and audit of financial statements.
- Assist in ensuring internal controls are in place and adhered to for safeguarding company assets.
- Perform internal audits and ensure that the company’s financial processes comply with policies and regulatory requirements.
7. Financial Analysis:
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management for improving profitability and financial performance.
8. Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, such as theCompanies Act 2016and other relevant financial regulations in Malaysia.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to the appropriate authorities, including theSecurities CommissionandBank Negara Malaysia, where applicable.
9. Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow and ensure that there are sufficient funds for the company’s operations.
- Prepare cash flow projections and manage cash flow to meet the company’s financial obligations.
10. Other Ad-hoc Tasks:
- Assist with financial projects and any other financial-related ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree inaccounting,Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification such asChartered Accountant (CA),ACCA(Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), orCPA(Certified Public Accountant) is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in accounting or finance-related roles.
- Strong knowledge ofMalaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS),Goods and Services Tax (GST), andSST(Sales and Services Tax) regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software such asSQLandERP, as well asMicrosoft Excel.
