Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team at Mercury Securities in Butterworth, Penang. This is a full-time position where you will play a key role in our Finance and Accounting operations. You will be responsible for a team maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

What you'll be doing

1. Managing the financial operations teams of the company which may include A/P, A/R, Cash Management, G/L recording, Bank Reconciliations and Statutory reporting
2. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
3. Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
4. Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in the implementation of new accounting systems or technologies

What we're looking for

1. Degree in Accounting or a related field
2. At least 3 years of accounting and finance experience, preferably in external accounting or financial services
3. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements
4. Knowledgeable in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
