Job description

Key responsibilities

The Finance Executive will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing financial reporting, and providing financial analysis and support to various departments. This role involves day-to-day accounting functions, financial analysis, and operational support to ensure the smooth financial management of the company.

Financial Record Keeping:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers.
  2. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  3. Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
Financial Reporting:
  1. Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements in compliance with Financial Reporting Standards (FRS) and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
  2. Assist with the preparation of financial reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  3. Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
  1. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  2. Monitor actual performance against budgets and assist in preparing variance reports.
  3. Identify and investigate variances in budget and report findings.
Cash Flow Management:
  1. Assist in managing the company's cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations.
  2. Track and manage cash balances and reconcile bank statements.
Taxation and Compliance:
  1. Ensure compliance with tax regulations (e.g., VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory taxes).
  2. Prepare and file tax returns, including GST, VAT, corporate tax and other statutory taxes, ensuring timely submission.
  3. Support tax audits and liaise with tax authorities when required.
Internal Controls:
  1. Ensure proper internal controls are followed for all financial activities.
  2. Monitor financial transactions to ensure they comply with company policies and procedures.
  3. Assist with the implementation of systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
General Accounting Support:
  1. Maintain accurate and updated financial records.
  2. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are recorded.
  3. Assist in the preparation and submission of monthly and annual management reports.
Other Duties:
  1. Assist in ad-hoc financial support and tasks as assigned by superior/senior management.
  2. Provide financial advice and support to other departments when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  2. Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles.
  3. Technical Skills:
  4. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
  5. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
  6. Knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations (GAAP, FRS, SST, GST, VAT, etc.).
  7. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.
  8. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
  9. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  10. Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with Financial Reporting: Experience in preparing financial statements for internal and external reporting.
  2. Knowledge of Tax Laws: Experience in managing corporate tax compliance and filings.
